Meet the Artist

Valarie Pothier-Forrester

Valarie Pothier-Forrester has a long history of working in the arts. Having received her Bachelor of Art Education and her Master of Arts from the University of Florida, she went on to work as an artist for the Florida Museum of Natural History and to write curriculum for the Harn Museum of Art; both in Gainesville, FL.

Valarie taught art in Alachua County for almost 30 years at the high school and middle school levels. Valarie now lives in St. Augustine where she is active painter and creator. Her work has been shown at a number of galleries both locally, in North Florida and in Canada.

“My ink paintings are a venture into the spontaneity and transparency of the medium. Controlling the flow of colors is a challenging and exciting approach to design, sometimes living with and loving those happy accidents as colors seem to melt into one another. I continue to stretch the possibilities on this particular journey.”
