Sheryl Sherwood
Pottery
Sheryl Sherwood lives in St. Augustine. Her background is in the area of painting and drawing, but in recent years has found her focus in clay work. She hand builds pottery one coil at a time, then fires using Raku or pit firing method. Each unique pot intertwines her love of scriptures, art, and her years of teaching blind and visually impaired students at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. Her goal is to bring a message of faith, hope, and love in each organically formed pot, while including movement, texture, and carvings for visual and tactile appeal. All of her work includes a print/Braille card with an inspirational scripture. Sheryl encourages everyone to touch her art, because “Art IS for everyone!”
Sheryl is a member of the St. Augustine Art Association and has exhibited at the annual Tactile Art Show, as well as other exhibitions. Sheryl enjoys exploring new techniques and firing methods through her networking with other potters.
